Building OmegleVC: Can Random Video Chat Be Fixed in 2026?

Like many people, I used Omegle years ago because it was one of the easiest ways to meet random people online.

The problem was always the same:

  • Too many bots

  • Fake users

  • Poor moderation

  • Privacy concerns

  • Slow or unreliable connections

So I started building OmegleVC, a peer-to-peer random video chat platform focused on fast connections, privacy, and real human conversations.

Some things we’re experimenting with:

  • WebRTC peer-to-peer video connections

  • Better bot prevention

  • Faster matching

  • Simpler user experience

  • No downloads required

One challenge I’m curious about:

What would make you try a random video chat platform today?

Would it be:

  • Better moderation?

  • Interest-based matching?

  • Professional networking?

  • Language exchange?

  • AI-assisted safety features?

I’d love to hear from other builders and users who have thoughts on where this category is heading.

What do you think the next generation of random chat should look like?
