Building ButaGYM OS: What We Learned Creating Software for Gyms

by

Hi everyone!

Over the past year, we've been building ButaGYM OS, a platform for gym owners to manage memberships, payments, member access, staff, and day-to-day operations from one place.

One thing that surprised us while talking to gym owners was that many weren't looking for more features—they wanted fewer systems. A lot of gyms still switch between separate tools for member management, billing, access control, and communication, which creates extra work.

That observation shaped the way we built ButaGYM. Instead of focusing on a single feature, we tried to make everyday operations simpler by bringing them together in one platform.

The product is now available on the web, Android, and iOS, and we're continuing to improve it based on user feedback.

If anyone here has experience running or managing a gym, I'd love to hear:

  • What's the biggest operational challenge you face today?

  • Which feature do you wish your current software handled better?

If you're curious, here's our Product Hunt launch:

Thanks for reading, and I'm happy to answer any questions about the product or what we've learned while building it.

Rafik, the fewer systems instinct you heard from gym owners matches what I hear from almost every service business I have talked to. My biggest operational challenge running more than one business at once was never inside any single tool, it was the switching cost between businesses, forgetting what mattered in one the moment I opened the dashboard for another. A gym owner running two locations probably feels a smaller version of the same thing, one location looks fine on the dashboard while the other quietly has a staffing gap nobody flagged yet. Curious whether the gym owners you talked to mentioned running more than one location, or if this was mostly single location pain.
