AI made building cheaper. So why are bad decisions becoming more expensive?

When building an MVP took months, founders naturally spent more time discussing ideas, validating assumptions, and deciding what to build.

Today, AI can turn an idea into a working prototype in a weekend.

That sounds like progress, but I think it has quietly shifted where the real cost is.

Building is cheaper than ever. Making the wrong product decision isn't.

Every unclear requirement, missing edge case, or misunderstood user need now gets implemented much faster. Instead of spending weeks writing code, we spend weeks changing direction after realizing we built the wrong thing.

That's one of the biggest lessons we've learned while building MySpec. Instead of helping founders write better prompts, we wanted to help them make better decisions before AI starts generating code. That's exactly why we redesigned our Greenfield workflow around asking better questions before implementation begins.

I'm curious whether other founders have felt the same shift. Has AI changed the cost of building, or has it simply changed the cost of making mistakes?
