The dementia-seizure overlap is one of the most understudied intersections in aging medicine. New peer-reviewed evidence is published regularly, and most of it never reaches the people closest to these cases. Seagull Pulse changes that. It doesn't replace clinical judgment. It makes sure the evidence exists in the room when you need it. Seagull Pulse is the only weekly digest focused exclusively on the dementia-seizure overlap.

Unrecognized seizure activity is the cause of some of the most significant adverse events in dementia care, including unexplained falls, behavioral deterioration, and accelerated cognitive decline that goes undocumented and untreated. The literature has been establishing this connection for decades. However, the framework to recognize, document, and respond to it, to meet the standard of care, has been lacking. Until now. I founded Seagull Health because I couldn’t find answers caring for my mother. With 25 years as a nursing home administrator and doctoral research in seizure risk assessment, clinical nutrition, and global health, I’ve seen firsthand how and why these events remain hidden. This systemic gap has clinical, legal, and financial consequences that aging care hasn’t yet addressed. A framework that translates this information into the language of standard of care benchmarking, facility-level risk assessment, and clinical opinion has been lacking. Seagull Pulse changes that. It doesn't replace clinical judgment. It makes sure the evidence exists in the room when you need it.
