How to price a job from what your last jobs really cost

Most underpriced quotes come from guessing fresh every time. A better habit:

1. After every job, write down actual hours, materials and extras, next to what you quoted.

2. Price new jobs from the closest past job, not from memory.

3. Check the profit before you send: know the difference between markup (on cost) and margin (on price). A 50% markup is only a 33% margin.

Contractors: which line item do you most often forget to charge for?

ScopeBid launches here on November 1. It's a quoting app for owner-operated trades: painters, cleaners, landscapers, handymen and detailers.

The idea is to quote the next job from what past jobs really cost. You start from a saved job, a trade template or a blank quote, and before you send it, Profit Guard shows the customer price, direct cost, estimated gross profit, gross margin and markup side by side. Approved quotes turn into invoices without retyping, and change orders show their own profit impact. It works offline.

ScopeBid: Estimate & Invoice - Quote the next job from what past jobs really cost

ScopeBid is a quoting app for owner-operated service businesses: painters, cleaners, landscapers and handymen. It remembers how you priced past jobs, with the source job and date, so each estimate starts from real numbers. See estimated profit before you send a clean PDF with your logo and terms; internal numbers never print on the customer copy. Turn approved quotes into invoices and record deposits. Quoting works offline with no account.
