What do you need from a translator when the signal disappears?

I’m launching Say today: a free, private iPhone translator and phrasebook designed for travel when connectivity is unreliable.

The problem I wanted to solve wasn’t simply translation. It was uncertainty. An app might say a language is downloaded, but that doesn’t necessarily tell you whether translation, speech input, voice playback, phrasebook content, and phonetics will all work offline.

Say checks those capabilities separately, so travelers can find gaps before leaving.

It requires no account and has no ads, analytics, tracking, purchases, or app-owned server fallback. The public beta is available through TestFlight.

I’d value your perspective: when you’re traveling without reliable connectivity, which capability matters most—typed translation, voice input, spoken playback, essential phrases, or something else?
