Saldar (payoff in Spanish) was born from a real need for a mobile debt management and strategy solution that satisfied everything I did on a desktop: Lots of data, clear pay off goals, debt and expense management, and knowing the status of my bank accounts.
There are a lot of budgeting apps out there, but this is not that. Budgeting should be reserved for when someone's out of debt. On my payoff journey, every bit of extra money that is not keeping the lights or water on, or my body fed, is going to debt but I couldn't find the tool I need that displayed this data in the way I wanted to see it.
Google Sheets looks awful on mobile and my entire debt payoff journey was in a spreadsheet. Coming up with a workflow that worked as well as that wasn't easy.
I paid $190 a year for a browser-based tool that was a glorified spreadsheet with debt strategy flows, however, it is continually full of bugs and seemingly not a lot of support to fix them. I know I could do better.
The payoff engine was verified against pay-off toolsets to give the most accurate payoff data possible while remaining flexible for users needs.
All the mainstream and some of the fringe payoff strategies are included:
Avalanche, Snowball, and Cash Flow Index strategies.
Velocity banking is included as well, although that strategy is a bit fringe. Interestingly, the math usually doesn't often work well for Velocity banking, but it is good to see that outlined very clearly.
All of this culminates in an easy to follow vertical payoff flow. Finally I have an entire spreadsheet's worth of data in a vertical flow that is easy to follow.
Other useful features:
Tracking your bank account(s) is important. While Plaid isn't integrated (yet), I've found great use of the manual balancing of my checking account on the app. This keeps me in tune with my spending.
Another great feature is scenario modeling: What would it look like if you sold your house, downsized, or sold a vehicle? These are tough scenarios for everyone, but seeing how much that can accelerate getting out of debt is sometimes the push we need to do the hard things now to be happy later.
Additionally, this is a completely dynamic UI built for tablets and foldable's as well! Looks great on any device.
