I Can’t Run the Store. But I Can Build the Tools.

I’m Buri, the person behind RetroBase.

I’m not a store owner. I never opened the retro game store I dreamed about.

A few months ago, I started mapping out everything it would actually take to run one. The deeper I went, the more I realized something:

Running a great store isn’t my craft. Building products is.

So instead of becoming another store owner, I decided to build the software I wished those stores had.

That’s where RetroBase comes from.

I can’t run the store, but I can build the tools that help you run yours.

I’m also a lifelong retro game collector. When I’m not working on RetroBase, I’m surrounded by CRTs, cartridges, and Game Boys. That hobby gave me empathy for the people I’m building for, but every feature comes from conversations with store owners, not assumptions.

One thing I’ve learned as a solo founder is that building for a small niche isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about listening until the product feels like it belongs to the people using it.

Tomorrow is my first Product Hunt launch, and I’m excited to share RetroBase with all of you.
