Repeating Tasks for Trello - Recurring cards for Trello, that create cards ahead of time

Trello's built-in recurring cards just reuse one card and reset its due date, so you never keep a history. Repeating Tasks works like Google Calendar: set a task to repeat daily, weekly, or monthly and get a real, separate card for every occurrence. End by date, by count, or never. Edit or delete the whole series from one dashboard, and edits reschedule existing cards without losing your checklists or comments. No backend, connect once and go.

Hey Hunters 👋 I'm Britt. I use Trello for basically everything, and have a newsletter and youtube channel all about how to maximize it. One of my subscribers brought up a great point recently wishing there was a way to create a series of trello cards when you want a repeating task (like when you create a Google Calendar event, they all generate and appear in your calendar). Trello's native Recurring Due Date feature is cool, but it doesn't actually make new cards. It reuses one card and pushes the due date, so you never get a record of what you actually finished and can't see all that you need to do over a month plotted out. Repeating Tasks fixes that. It works like Google Calendar: set a task to repeat, and you get a real card for every occurrence, each with its own due date, checklists, and comments. Edit or delete the whole series from one place in the board header. No server, no signup, just connect your Trello once. Would love your feedback, especially on what recurrence options you'd want next, or other power-ups you'd like to see. I'm already working on my next one! Happy to answer anything!

Does the same series stay linked to its parent task forever or is there a limit on how many cards can be tied to a single repeating set

they stay linked so that when you make an edit for the task, it rolls out to all the cards in the series! I set the limit at 52 for now just so nobody blows up their boards but if i see that folks are wanting/needing more than 52 in a series (they want one for each day of the year or something) i can look at implementing something to handle that!

Finally someone solved the recurring card mess on Trello. Spinning up separate cards each cycle instead of recycling one is such an obvious fix, glad you did it.

thank you!!! someone mentioned wanting to do it and seemed like a pretty obvious thing to me too haha.

How does it handle Trello Power-Up limits since this runs as one, and is there a free tier or only the paid Power-Up listing on the marketplace?

great question! there are no power-up limits anymore, they got rid of that awhile ago, so you can have as many power-ups as you want! and this is free, i don't have any monetization or premium/paid plans for it.
