Highlights save instantly to a local file on my Mac and just work the next time I open the same PDF. Love that there's no account or sync step, feels like it respects my time.

Does this work with scanned PDFs or only text-based ones, since highlighting those is usually a nightmare for local tools?

@aliyeu3327 unfortunately no Readote works best with text-based PDFs. Scanned images don't have selectable text, so highlighting won't work.
