Hey Product Hunt ๐, we are Greg and Gerard, cofounders of projectseldon.org!
At Project Seldon weโre on a mission to promote political transparency. Our goal is to build a user friendly interface to enable everyone to easily understand and interact with governments.
The mission is broad. To get started we have honed in on national data in the United States, Great Britain and Canada. We've built foundational data structures and visualizations that will enable the project to easily scale to other countries around the world.
Today we are super excited to unveil our first iteration of projectseldon.org to the product hunt community! We are looking for feedback from this awesome community as we aim to scale our platform to new countries and local / regional datasets.
To that end, we have a public repository where we we collect new ideas, bug reports, questions, and any other feedback to improve the platform.
We also aim to expand our contributor base, and are looking to build out a community around this mission. Join us on discord to connect and let us know what you're interested in!
So for now, we ask that you explore our site, interact with our products, and let us know what you think!
With projectseldon.org you can:
๐บ Explore our interactive and easy to use data visualizations
๐ Export .csv and .json files of data on the explore and search pages
๐คฟ Deep Dive into country level data and visualizations
๐ฉ Drill Down to representative level data
๐ Search our full data set, and filter down to what interests you.
Here are some examples of how organizations and individuals can use projectseldon.org:
- Average citizens interested in tracking the voting history of their elected representatives
- Journalists and local news outlets looking for reliable political visualization tools
