I built PrivateWhisper because I wanted Whisper-quality transcription on Mac without the usual setup pain: Python envs, FFmpeg issues, CLI flags, and uploading sensitive audio to random services. The goal became simple: install → drop a file → get text/subtitles. Over time I focused less on “more features” and more on removing friction: a clean native workflow, sensible defaults, and exports (TXT/SRT/VTT) that just work. If you’ve tried running Whisper locally and bounced off the setup, I’d like to hear what broke for you (install, speed, language accuracy, exports, etc.).
