PrivacyStage - MacApp, AppleApp, Privacy

byβ€’
I share my screen a lot on Zoom/Meet, and I got tired of scrambling to hide Slack, my inbox, or a stray password manager window. So I built PrivacyStage. What it does: Stealth Mode β€” hide any specific window from a share while you keep using it Clean presentation desktop + notification guard while sharing Works with any meeting app via a virtual camera β€” no plugins Everything runs locally β€” nothing about your screen leaves your Mac. Would love feedback from anyone who presents or pairs often πŸ™

Love this, the local-only virtual camera approach is exactly right. One thing I'd want: a "panic hotkey" that instantly hides every sensitive window across all spaces at once when a coworker unexpectedly asks to share your screen. Single key, instant cover, beats fumbling through a list in the moment.

Thank you β€” really glad the local-only approach lands with you. And the panic hotkey is a fantastic shout. You nailed the exact moment it's for: someone says "can you share your screen?" and you've got half a second, not time to open a list. A single global key that instantly covers everything across all spaces is exactly the kind of thing PrivacyStage should have β€” adding it to the roadmap. Appreciate That.

the local-only approach is a nice touch, especially for something that literally handles your hidden windows. stealth mode worked smoothly when i tested it with zoom.

Thanks Man πŸ™ β€” that's great to hear it ran smoothly with Zoom, that's the setup I care most about getting right. The whole point was to keep everything on-device, so it means a lot that the "handles your hidden windows locally" part actually felt trustworthy in practice. Enjoy it, and shout if anything ever feels off!

Tried it on a quick test share and the per-window hiding actually works without weird flicker. Love that it's all local, my slides and Slack stay out of sight without sending anything to the cloud.
