Why we built PrivacyScanPDF: 100% browser-local file security & C2PA checker

by•

Hey Product Hunt community! 🚀

I’m Vishal Anand, the founder of PrivacyScanPDF. We officially launched on the platform today, and I wanted to share a quick insight into why we built this.

Every popular online PDF utility forces you into a dangerous compliance compromise: uploading your highly sensitive financial, legal, or personal documents to external cloud servers just to perform standard file conversions or compression.

We engineered PrivacyScanPDF to change this entirely. By utilizing local WebAssembly (WASM), we brought the entire computation engine directly into your local browser tab.

• Your files never leave your device.

• Once the engine loads, you can literally turn off your internet, and all 68+ utilities run perfectly offline.

• We also added an interactive C2PA Content Credentials checker so you can instantly verify digital provenance signatures and catch AI edits safely.

No signups, no data logging, and absolutely no watermarks.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or answer any technical questions you have about our browser-local architecture! What features should we add to our edge-computed pipeline next?

Thanks for the initial support, everyone! I want to drop a quick challenge for the security engineering folks here: Open up your browser's Network Inspector tab, load , and then completely turn off your Wi-Fi or pull your ethernet plug. Try executing a massive batch image-to-PDF conversion or scrubbing a metadata file. You will see absolute mathematical execution zero-upload isolation. I'd love for anyone to audit our network boundaries and share their local latency speeds below!
