PrePal - AI tutor to diagnose why your SAT score is stuck and fix it

by
Most AI tutors are ChatGPT in a skin. PrePal is different in three specific ways: 1. Fine-tuned on 3 years of real SAT tutoring notes from our agency, not generic GPT 2. Adaptive practice mirrors the digital SAT's actual IRT scoring engine 3. Diagnoses why your score plateaus — not just explains individual answers Built by an ex-SAT tutor (3yr, ~100 students). For international-school students prepping for US universities. Live in Early Access.

Hey PH 👋 3 years ago I started a small SAT tutoring agency in Vietnam. ~100 students, real business. One pattern hit me over and over: smart kids would study hard, take practice tests, hit a 1300 ceiling, and have no way to figure out why. Tutors at $2-3K could diagnose the pattern, but most families can't afford that and even when they can, the tutor isn't there at midnight when the student is stuck on a question. So I built PrePal which basically AI tutor that get fine-tuned on 3 years of our actual tutoring notes (not generic ChatGPT), paired with adaptive practice that mirrors the real digital SAT scoring engine. The thing I'm trying to get right: it doesn't just explain answers. It walks you backward through where your logic broke, shows you the pattern you keep missing, and tells you why you're plateauing which is the part free tools and ChatGPT can't do. Three things I'd love feedback on: 1. The differentiator. Does "AI tutor trained on real tutoring notes" land, or does it still read as a ChatGPT wrapper? 2. The diagnostic angle. Knowing why you're stuck is the actual value, not just AI-powered explanations. Does that come through? 3. Pricing. $40 one-time for early access (no subscription) and a permanent discount for founding member when fully launch. Refreshing for edtech product like this, or just weird? I have clone the app for a demo that lives at https://prepal-demo.up.railway.app no signup, fresh session each visit. I'll be in the comments today and tomorrow. Brutal feedback wanted. - Khoa Vo
