Pony - Distraction-free, productive email, delivered once a day

by
Pony is the world’s first non-instant messaging platform. It is an email service that sends and receives messages once a day. It gives you space and time to have meaningful, rich communication without alerts, notifications and distractions.

This is a good idea. Do you have any plans to provide a way to aggregate emails from other systems once per day?

@conrad_ehing Hi Conrad. Thank you. That is a good question, it's been a tough one for me. Integrating other services presents a set of challenges. Technically it can be done, so the question for me is how this would affect the "feel" of Pony as a relaxed place separate from the world of stressful instant communication. I love the Internet and email and social media, but I built Pony so that users have a separate, non-instant place to communicate. Merging those two worlds might be tough. What do you think?

@dminkovsky It would definitely be more work. The tough part is adding another email address. Most people already have at least two....work and a gmail account plus messages coming in through social, slack, etc. Having an easy way to quickly view messages from all sources once per day would be nice to minimize distractions.

@conrad_ehing Hi Conrad, I totally agree, ideally we'd have some way to pause everything and get it delivered only a certain number of times a day. I'd love to have made that product, but I'm not sure that product is possible to make because all those other services would have to let you use their data and go around their user interfaces, etc. And their businesses largely depend on having you spend lots of time on their platforms, so they wouldn't like such a product. So on one hand I like that Pony is separate as a thing in and of itself, but on the other hand, I'm not sure it could be anything but a separate platform. There are Gmail/Outlook plugins that let you pause your inbox or hide new messages, but they're service-specific and I found that they don't really give you space to correspond in the way Pony does.

Hello everyone! I couldn't find a place online to correspond with without distractions, so I created Pony. Pony is an email service that sends and receives messages once a day. Choose morning, afternoon, or evening, and we will pick up and deliver every day at that time. You’ll know when messages are coming, and you won’t be rushed to respond right away. When you create a Pony account, you get an email address @pony.gg. Use it to write to anyone you know. Pony is free and runs in the browser. I look forward to your feedback!
