What financial decision do you wish you could simulate before making?
One thing I’ve realized while building Pocket is that most personal finance apps do a great job showing where your money is today. But that’s rarely the question I struggle with.
The questions I actually want answered are things like:
If I buy a new laptop today, how much later will I become debt-free?
If I put an extra $500 towards my loan this month, how much interest will I save?
If I take a vacation, what goal gets delayed?
If I get a raise, what’s the smartest place to put the extra money?
They’re all “what if” questions. That’s why I built Pocket around financial forecasting rather than just tracking transactions. I wanted to understand the future impact of today’s decisions before making them.
I’m curious how everyone else approaches this.
Have you ever made a financial decision and later wished you had simulated the outcome first?
I’d love to hear your experiences and the kinds of scenarios you wish your finance tools could answer.
