Ever since I can remember I have loved to sing. One of my earliest memories of my childhood is sitting on the floor of my bedroom in Harare, Zimbabwe, with one of those suitcase type gramophones and listening to “Two little boys had two little toys” on repeat. Then when I was about 14, I persuaded my mum to buy me a guitar and it has given me years and years of pleasure and comfort and I often thank my mum for buying me that first guitar. In about 2013 I wanted to start writing my own songs and so I set about learning all I could about the art of songwriting. Then I wanted to record those songs so I studied everything I could about home recording. Then I wanted release those songs and, in between my “real” job of being a Business Analyst and my other job of being a wife and mother, I have released hundreds of songs, both covers and originals. A few years ago I started making play-along videos with scrolling chords and lyrics, karaoke-style, of the backing tracks of the songs in my setlist. The idea was that I could take these videos along to my gigs and I would not need a separate MP3 player and songbook. Then I had the thought that other people would enjoy these videos and I started uploading them to Youtube. Since then the channel has gone from strength to strength with over 48,000 subscribers and 58 million views. I have created this songbook as a way to give back to the guitar-playing community that has given me so much joy in making all these play-along videos over the years.
