Free, open-source voice typing for Windows — testers wanted before tomorrow's launch
Hey — I'm James (I also build SignalEngine). Tomorrow I'm launching PipeVoice here: free, open-source push-to-talk voice typing for Windows. Hold a hotkey, talk, release, and your words type at the cursor in any app — terminal, editor, browser, chat. I mostly built it to dictate prompts to Claude Code and Cursor without typing them out.
It already works and you can grab it now at pipevoice.app (code: github.com/Powleads/PipeVoice). Before tomorrow I'd love a few people to actually use it and tell me where it falls over — an app it didn't type into cleanly, transcription accuracy, the fully-offline path (Local Whisper + Ollama), anything clunky.
If you're on Windows and type a lot, give it a go and reply with what you'd change. That's the most useful thing for me right now.
PipeVoice - try it here, its free !
