PhotoSTL - Turn one photo into a printable 3D model

by•
PhotoSTL turns one photo into a printable 3D draft. Pick a print recipe (pet bust or logo relief), preview in the browser, run a printability check, then download STL or 3MF already in millimetres. 30 free credits to start, no card.

I built this because I kept hitting the same wall: image-to-3D gives you a model, but not a model you can print. Three things were always broken. Scale. The mesh comes out normalised, the slicer assumes millimetres, so a bust lands 2 mm tall. You scale it, then the wall thickness is wrong too. Thickness. A photo is 2.5D. The output has no back and no base, so it prints as a wafer. Detail. A 2000 px photo mapped onto a 60 mm bust puts detail at 0.03 mm per pixel — a tenth of what a 0.4 mm nozzle can resolve. It becomes noise. So PhotoSTL starts from the print, not from the mesh. You pick a recipe (pet bust or logo relief) and the target size, base thickness and minimum wall are fixed before generation. Then a printability check runs before you download, and STL/3MF comes out already in millimetres. The raw GLB is there if you would rather fix things in Blender. It is deliberately narrow — no rigging, no UVs, no textures. If you need a game asset, this is the wrong tool. 30 free credits, no card. I would rather hear what breaks than what looks nice: tell me the printer, the slicer and the recipe you used.
