While attempting to work on a Brooklyn roof deck in peak summer, it became glaringly obvious that laptops, tablets and their screens do not work well in direct sunlight. The glare from the sun diminishes your view of the screen, while overheating your device and preventing it from working in a matter of minutes. The existing options were to (a) put your device in a cardboard box - this was not practical for traveling and didn't look great, (b) sit entirely in the shade, which defeats the purpose or (c) use one of the clunky, poorly designed existing sun shades which were not only expensive, but which typically used elastic to attach to your screen. The elastic would cover over your apps and was incredibly tricky to attach, and then wouldn't stay connected if it was windy. It become clear that nobody had solved the problem sufficiently. Then, in March 2020, the pandemic caused a shift in people moving from offices to working from home. It was clear that this was the time people needed the product most, so SunShader™ was born as the ultimate sun shade, heat shade and privacy shade for your laptop or tablet. SunShader™ is successfully patented in the U.S. and Patent Pending in over 30 countries worldwide.

I saw your prototype pictures, and decided to build one myself, just to see if this nice version would be a sound investment. I work in the sun on my balcony for much of the summer, and would love to have something to help me see my screen better. However, no matter how big or inclosed I made the Shade, it did not help me. The problem was not sun shining unto my screen, but instead sun shining on my and being reflected unto my screen. No Shade will fix that, as that would obstruct my view (or place me in the shade). I have a slight feeling that you are also aware if this, as I was unable to find any clips or photos of a normally tilted screen (not tilted towards the sky but towards the user) with the SunShader and the camera placed over the shoulder of the user sitting in the sun. It put my laptop in the shade, but it did not make my screen easier to read.

@mathias_vielwerth2 Hi Mathias, I can't speak for what you have built yourself, but we have developed the design over almost 2 years and stand by its effectiveness. I personally do not leave home without mine, and have used it throughout peak summer in Texas (115Âş heat and direct sunlight) and SunShader does effectively keep the sun off your screen and keep your laptop from overheating. We hope to prove you wrong should you decide to purchase one at our discounted Indiegogo price!

@griffmix Oh mine keeps the sun off of my laptop as well. No sun hits my screen. It just doesn’t make anything on the screen more legible, as it’s the reflection that’s the main problem when working outside. But looking forward to the reviews. If they are good, I might join you in the sun ;)
