Built with Material 3 is a nice touch, and the offline-first approach really stands out. Would love to see cloud sync support added so bookmarks and annotations stay consistent across devices. That would make it a daily driver for me.

Thank you! Cloud sync is an interesting one because it sits in slight tension with the offline-first, no-tracking stance. So if I add it, it'll be opt-in and ideally bring-your-own-cloud (something like syncing through your own storage) rather than a server I run. Keeping bookmarks and annotations in step across devices is a genuinely nice goal though, and I'll be thinking about how to do it without compromising the privacy angle. Really appreciate the feedback!

Material 3 looks crisp and the merge/split flow is genuinely snappy. Nice that it stays local too.

💎 Pixel perfection

Love the clean Material 3 design and the privacy angle, really refreshing for a PDF app. One thing that would make it a daily driver for me is adding OCR support so scanned documents become searchable and selectable text, not just images.

Thank you, that means a lot! OCR is easily the most requested feature here today, so you're in good company. The tricky part is keeping it fully offline and privacy-first (no shipping your docs to a cloud OCR service), but that's exactly the constraint I want to solve for. It's high on the roadmap, and I'll make sure searchable + selectable text from scans is part of it, not just a bolt-on.

The Compose and Material 3 setup looks really clean. One thing I'd love to see is a tabbed view so I could keep two PDFs open side by side for comparing documents, or even just have a recent files tab without losing my current document. Would make referencing much faster during longer editing sessions.

Thanks Buket! Really glad the Compose/M3 work shows. Tabbed / multi-document is a great call. The "don't lose my current document while I peek at another" pain is real during longer sessions. There's already a Recent files view on the home screen, but keeping documents open in parallel is a bigger UI shift I want to get right rather than rush. Noting it down as a proper feature request, and thanks for describing the use case so clearly.

Love that you built this with Compose and Material 3, the privacy focus is a nice touch. One thing that would make it a daily driver for me is OCR support so I can search inside scanned PDFs and copy text from them, would round out the search feature nicely.

Appreciate it! You've hit on exactly why OCR keeps coming up: the full-text search is already there, it just can't see inside scanned/image PDFs yet. Making those searchable and copyable is the natural next step, and doing it on-device to keep the privacy promise intact. It's firmly on the list. Thanks for the thoughtful note!

Adding OCR for scanned PDFs would be huge, especially since the app already has search and image tools. A lot of important docs come as scanned images and right now full text search won't work on them. Even a basic option to extract searchable text from image based PDFs would make this way more useful for working with older documents.

Great point, and I like the framing of starting with even a basic extract-searchable-text option rather than waiting to build the perfect version. A lot of important documents really do arrive as scans, and older archives especially. That "start simple, on-device" approach is probably how I'll ship the first version. solid pdf app honestly, the merge and compress tools worked great on a few work files i threw at it. really like that it's all on-device, kind of rare to see a proper reader that doesnt want your documents
