👋 Hello Product Hunters! Ian here, chief maker at Parra (pronounced pair-uh), a fun new tool for helping companies build better products by streamlining in-app user research. We are extremely excited to announce our official launch today. 🎉 What is Parra? Parra is a native SDK for frictionlessly conducting in-app user research surveys to empower product teams with the data they need to make the best decisions for their product and delight their customers. Use Parra to settle an office dispute over what feature to build next or just to validate a new idea. ✨ Our Story I’ve been immersed in software my whole life. As a customer and as a creator. I’ve worked in consulting for small companies where I was the only developer on an app to Fortune 500 companies where I was just a fly on the wall. I’ve worked for startups that were successful and ones that went under. Over the years, I’ve been on an incredibly diverse array of teams in size, product, process, and every metric in between. Over the years, I’ve come to the realization that the product roadmapping decision-making process at so many companies is fundamentally messed up. Even at organizations that actually talk to their customers where office politics don’t play an active role, the conversation is dominated by a small, vocal minority of users who are overly eager. Their insights, though incredibly valuable, may not necessarily be representative of the broader user base. I’ve built many features over the years where I’ve found myself wondering “does anyone actually want this?” only to see the feature flop. Adoption lags expectations, time and money wasted, teams demoralized, and the majority of the most loyal customers feel left out to dry. I began to ask myself, what if I could talk to all the users in the same way I would drop a message in Slack or run a Twitter Poll early in the process. What would they say? 📣 And therein lies the opportunity. How are we different? Existing solutions for conducting this type of user research at scale rely heavily on either email surveys, known for having abysmal click through rates and even worse survey completion rates, or intrusive popups that users reflexively dismiss resulting in data provided by only a very small yet vocal segment of your user base. Parra is not hidden in your inbox or an obscure part of your app. It seamlessly integrates on any screen to provide an experience that feels like a first class citizen in your app. Leaving feedback with Parra is so intuitive and frictionless, even your most silent users will find themselves engaged in answering the questions you ask and feeling like they are a part of your product’s journey.
If you made it this far, thank you for your taking the time to learn about Parra. We are just getting started and are looking forward to getting our product in your hands. Any thoughts, feedback, ideas, or interest would be immensely meaningful at this point. Early adopters welcome and I look forward to sculpting our roadmap with your feedback :) Best, Ian ian@parra.io
