I just wanted an AI agent that could do real stuff on my Mac, handle emails, automate my browser, manage files, without shipping all my data to the cloud. I tried the existing tools and kept running into the same problem, they're all built on the same open source daemon with a terrible security record. Plaintext API keys, exposed instances, malicious plugins, users getting hit with $3,600 bills from runaway loops. Every alternative was just a prettier skin on the same broken code. So I said screw it, I'll build my own from scratch. Security first, local only, no inherited baggage. What started as a security fix turned into something much bigger. I kept adding skills because a secure agent that can't do anything is useless. Now it has 50+ skills, Google Workspace, scheduling, browser automation, and it installs with a single .dmg. No Docker, no terminal, no headaches. Two features I'm most proud of are Learning and Goals. OpenSair tracks every interaction and builds memory instances over time, it genuinely learns how you work, what you prefer, and gets better the more you use it. And with Goals, you can give it a long-term objective and it'll actually work toward it, day after day, on its own. Not just a to-do list but more like real persistent effort. Right now, my own OpenSair is on a goal to hit 1000 followers on Instagram and Threads. It writes the posts, publishes them, tracks what performs, adjusts its approach, all by itself. I just watch the numbers go up. If it can grow its own audience, imagine what it can do for yours.
