Dev Tools: SaaS Subscription vs. One-Time License? (The "Fatigue" debate)
by•
I'm launching OpenAdmin today, and I made a controversial choice: I'm selling the Source Code (Pay once, own forever) instead of making it a SaaS subscription.
As a developer, I have "Subscription Fatigue". I'm tired of paying $19/month for tools I only use occasionally.
I believe that for code generators and boilerplate tools, the "Own the Engine" model is fairer than renting the software.
What’s your take?
🅰️ Team SaaS: I prefer small monthly fees and cloud hosting.
🅱️ Team One-Time: I prefer paying more upfront to own the tool/code forever.
