Hi Product Hunt! I'm the maker of OnlyTranslate, a free, open-source bilingual reading extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. I wanted to keep reading foreign-language articles, courses and books without constantly switching between the original content and a separate translator. OnlyTranslate keeps translations beside the source and lets you choose the translation service. A few things that make it useful: - Smart mode focuses on the main reading area; full-page mode covers more visible text. You can also translate selected text, hover over text, or preview translations in input fields. - Video subtitles are translated in context-aware segments and displayed alongside the original subtitles on supported sites. - Local DRM-free EPUBs and PDFs have a reading library with saved progress, backup and restore. PDFs support original-page comparison and an optional local layout model. - Choose Microsoft Translator, Google Translate, DeepL, AI providers, or a compatible endpoint with your own API key. The extension is GPL-3.0 and builds on FluentRead. No OnlyTranslate account or subscription is needed. Your original EPUB/PDF files and reading progress stay in the browser; text you choose to translate is sent to your selected provider. Third-party services may charge separately. EPUB and PDF reading are still in beta. Videos need accessible source subtitles, and scanned PDFs aren't supported by OCR. I'd love to hear which reading task you would try first, and where the translation or layout gets in your way. Website: Source:
