We turned off subscriptions. A stranger subscribed anyway.
Something happened this week I can't stop thinking about.
We turned off subscriptions in OceanMind — our breathing and meditation app. No paywall, no prompts, no upgrade screens. We decided to focus entirely on the product first.
Then I was going through our analytics and found something unexpected: someone had gone to their profile, found our annual subscription on their own, and paid $49.99.
Nobody asked them. No funnel, no nudge, no email sequence. Just a person who uses the app and decided to say "keep going" with their wallet.
As a founder, you spend so much time optimizing conversion — moving buttons, testing copy, tweaking paywalls. Then someone reminds you that the strongest growth lever is simply building something people care about.
To whoever you are: thank you. You made our week.
