48 hours to launch - and I have a timezone problem

by

My launch day is Sept 9th!

Yup, it's two days out and the panic's doing something useful for once, forcing me to finish things instead of polish them.

The issue is I'm on the West Coast, Pacific Time, and everything I've read says the first 4 hours after launch decide the day. Which means my best window opens while I'm asleep. So, I guess I'm staying up?!

If you've launched here before - how did you handle the hours when the leaderboard's moving and you're not awake for it? Stay up? Something else? Just accept the hit and make it up later?

Tell me what you'd do differently with your last 48 hours.

The board rolls at midnight Pacific, so you are already on the clock everyone else has to convert to, which makes this a sleep problem rather than a timezone one. The thing I would spend the last 48 hours on is the day of the week: I picked a Sunday, we went live, and it was not featured. Wednesday is not that problem.

Agreed on the clock, so here's the other half. I launched a couple of weeks ago and launch day itself barely moved my follower count, what moved it was two long back and forths in other people's threads in the days after. Anna, I'd spend the last 48 hours writing out how you'll answer the three objections you already know are coming, not on anything you'd polish in the product. And set an alarm for 6am rather than staying up, a tired founder answering comments badly at 3am costs more than the points do.

Solid tip with the objections - I had a Pre-Launch Party last Wednesday and that proved to be a good tester for that. Granted these were all people who knew me but still - they came with questions!

Well, I lucked out with Wednesday - it's actually my birthday tomorrow so I was going with that rather than a specific day of the week :)

Staying up for 4 hours to watch a number move is really just a sleep problem you're choosing to have. 's day-of-week point matters more than the hour math, a Wednesday morning launch already puts your best window in front of people who are actually online, wherever they are. Haven't launched here myself yet, still waiting out App Store review, so take this as theory rather than experience. I'll set a reminder and watch Wednesday morning either way. Good luck!

Lucky me - I picked Wednesday because it's my birthday tomorrow! I'm also looking to apply to the App Store so I'll be curious how your experience is -let me know! And thanks for the support :)

App Store submissions are not my side of the house, so I would only be guessing there. On the party though, your guests already believed the premise, so those were the cheap questions. The people arriving from the board today have not decided whether this is their problem, and that is what the page has to answer while the traffic is free.

Looking forward to the questions today ;)
