Project chronology
For those of you who clicked on Nucleate (let alone its threads!), thank you for taking a few minutes to read about this project. It started as a simple way to capture material for devlogs and turned into this "for everyone" project history tool. One opportunity or improvement after another kept appearing, and I had no self-control over scope creep. At some point I committed to making it the best possible version of itself, and the result is what's released as part of this launch (2026-08-01).
It's been a labor of love. I poured more than a year into Nucleate and documented the entire chronology on my website. For those who like cool data, I've logged more than 1000h with major milestones in the development process (see the plot below).
Nucleate - Project memory from unstructured audio
Nucleate is a free Windows and macOS app that turns freeform audio into organized project history. What you did, what blocked you, and where things are heading.
It is designed for people who’d rather talk through their work and discover useful project insights — status updates, decisions, blockers, progress over time — without hand-crafting every note. It requires no account, no subscriptions, no ads, and enables 100% local processing on your own machine with upgradable AI.
