I have been using the Mac version for quite a while and love it. My workflow mainly takes place on the PC though. I am super happy to announce that the public beta launched today and I can finally have my Luminar where I need it most!! While the beta does not have all the feature set yet, it is absolutely functional and already in my workflow! Can't wait for Aurora and the final of Luminar!! This is big! #macphunfam

Nice, thanks! Any plans to put the final version into the Windows store?
Maria Gordienko
@casaout we're still considering this option, but will definitely sell Luminar on our website

@maria_gordienko hi Maria. Thanks for the response! I think the advantage would be to give users easy updating options, better integrate into the OS, also target Windows S users, get easy feedback from users, and have easy monetization features. You could likely use the desktop bridge: https://developer.microsoft.com/...

@casaout André, thanks for your comment and thoughtful advice about Windows Store, we will definitely think about it.

Maria Gordienko
@treyratcliff Thanks, Trey! Can't wait to see the tutorials!

Thankful the Windows app business is picking up. Apple needs competition!!! and frankly their hardware sucks.

@androidlove and from now on Macphun is cross-platform

Looks great, will have to try the Mac version soon. Any plans to bring your software to iPad?
Juliana Chyzhova
@fpocha you can try it right now! https://macphun.com/luminar Right now we're working on the DAM tool
Fᴀʀʜᴀᴅ
@julianamacphun what's the DAM tool?
Maria Gordienko
@fpocha it's a digital asset management tool, or in other words - a photo catalog.

I understand that it is supposed to be less complex than Photoshop, but how does it compete with the value provided by other great software in the same price-range, e.g. Affinity Photo? Could you give me any pros and cons (aside from complexity)?
Maria Gordienko
@andrewpeterprifer thanks for the question, good one. The public beta of Luminar for Windows has only the most important features compared to the full-featured Mac version, which is more advanced, however, it already has Accent Filter, powered by the artificial intelligence, that takes images from good to great in a second by moving just one slider. None of other software has something similar. Moreover, Luminar is really very easy to use, not only compared to Photoshop, but also compared to Affinity Photo and others. Luminar is designed for any photographer – from those just starting out with photo processing all the way to professionals. So there is no need for beginners to look through hours of tutorials about photo editing, they can just open Luminar and get instant great results.

As a Mac user who has never heard of Luminar, how is Luminar different from Pixelmator?
Maria Gordienko
@theleovogel thanks for the question! Luminar is more intuitive and easier to use. The UI adapts to photographer's needs and one can build it from scratch by choosing those filters and tools one needs, or select from pre-arranged workspaces that already have necessary tools for editing different image styles, like portrait or landscape, etc. Luminar also has Accent AI Filter, powered by artificial intelligence, RAW files conversion, plug-in integration with Lightroom and Photoshop, works as an extension to Apple Photos, has a great collection of presets for achieving amazing results in seconds and many other cool things. So give it a try and let us know your feedback :) https://macphun.com/luminar

Reminds me of what I like about the Lytro interface (I know, I know) but updated for modern usage and performance! Love it.

@seymourgroup thanks for the feedback and sharing your love!

Tried this on Windows 10. Found this very intuitive to use with some awesome results. As advertised it totally blew my mind! However, the application crashed when I was working with a RAW file after I tried to click and hold the image. After restart the application refused to open any RAW files. But I am very impressed with the quality of the product. Will be trying more advanced editing if I can open RAW files.
Maria Gordienko
@itsaadityaa Aaditya, thanks for your feedback! Since it's a beta version it might crash once in a while, but the full-featured version is coming soon and it will be awesome! Stay tuned ;)
