I said it and it happened...we had an existential crisis
You know when you're 100% sure you're going in the right direction with your product but then, a simple question stops you?
10 days ago, my partner and I were tweaking the last things on the new website, almost ready to launch.
Then, he stopped and asked a very simple question:
But who is our target audience?
We thought we had all the answers but after repeating the same question again and again we were always coming up with confused replies.
"We target small businesses but also start-ups"
"No, let's target only start-ups!"
"It's too broad, we should focus on a specific niche"
And so on.
We realized we weren't ready to launch and that it was better to wait before making any bad decisions.
That's when Claude came into our lives.
It's been some time since we started thinking about trying it, but didn't have a chance yet, so we thought we could take the opportunity to test it while adjusting NiceJourney's long-term strategy.
And it magically worked: In just a few prompts, Claude managed to understand what we were doing wrong and how to improve.
Honestly, we felt a bit dumb after reading Claude's answers because we could have certainly come up with the same ideas; it's just that we were totally caught up in our business, so we didn't manage to maintain the same impartial perspective we usually have with clients.
We needed someone with an "outsider view" to put all the dots together and see the big picture.
So, right now, we're rethinking NiceJourney starting from what Claude told us and refining it based on manual (and sometimes a bit tedious) research and insights from our expertise and background in branding.
We really needed to stop and reflect, once again.
We're trying to build something different from traditional agencies and design subscriptions, and it takes time to find the right direction.
Our next steps: niching down as much as we can and divide NiceJourney into 2 highly tailored offers based on our experience in 2 different and distant sectors, one for luxury brands in hospitality, F&B and D2C and one for pre-seed and funded start-ups that need help with branding and marketing strategy.
We'll keep working hard to refine the offers!
