MyDocScanner - Free document scanner — no ads, watermark or subscription

by
Tired of CamScanner's watermarks and Adobe Scan's paywalls? I built MyDocScanner — a 100% free Android scanner with no ads, no subscription, no watermark. Ever. What's included: • Scan documents, ID cards & passports • PDF merge, split, password & e-sign • Convert Image / Word / PPT → PDF • OCR — extract text from scans, offline • WhatsApp & Email sharing • App lock with PIN or biometrics Everything works offline. Nothing leaves your device. No account needed.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Sarang, the developer behind MyDocScanner. The frustration that started this: I kept recommending CamScanner to friends and family, then watching them get hit with watermarks and subscription paywalls for features that should just work. So I spent a few months building an alternative. The whole app is free — PDF merge, split, OCR, file conversion, e-signatures, password protection — no subscription, no watermark, no ads, and everything runs offline. A few things I'm particularly proud of: → ID card scanning that puts front + back on one page (huge for India) → OCR that works without internet → WhatsApp direct sharing (essential for Indian users) It's a fresh launch so this community's feedback would genuinely shape the app. What features would make you switch from your current scanner? What's broken or missing? Happy to answer any technical questions too — built with Flutter, fully offline architecture.

Hey Sarang, really solid launch. Love that it's fully offline, no watermarks, no subscriptions, and privacy-focused. As someone who's built a few Flutter offline apps, I'm curious about a few technical details.

What OCR engine powers the text extraction? flutter_tesseract_ocr, google_ml_kit on-device, or a custom model? How does it perform on lower-end devices, especially speed and accuracy?

For PDF handling like merge, split, password protection, and e-sign, which Dart package are you using? The pdf package, syncfusion_flutter_pdf free tier, or something else?

The front+back ID/passport on one page feature is really useful. Is edge detection handled with the camera plugin and custom logic, or does it involve any ML for layout?

On a mid-range phone, what's the typical OCR processing time for a full A4 page? Any pre-processing steps like downsampling to keep things fast?

Installed it already, the local-only approach is a big plus. If you ever share more about the architecture or the toughest parts of keeping everything offline, I'd love to hear. Congrats on the launch!
