How we're storytelling +toolset
Hi all,
So, because we decided quite late on, to do the #buildinpublic, I'm going to review our historic notes, emails, and chats, then provide a week-by-week post dealing with the interesting elements for that week. I'm not sure if that's the right way to do it but here's hoping.
As a bonus for reading this thread, I'm including our current toolset. I'll indicate where we've switched in the weekly posts and why.
Our main foundational decision is that we're an AI first company and that we'll minimize on full time bodies. Talent is a mission to find, keep and nurture. Where a tool can provide equivalent value, we'll use it and where we need specific expertise we'll use platforms (Upwork/toptal/fiverr) for point objectives.
One downstream effect of that is that we have no developers.......none. If Sabs or I can't do it, we'll find a platform body to help and that leads to the first tool decision; Windsurf & Cascade. We're both familiar with, and like VScode and windsurf is pretty similar. For the rest; here goes:
AI models: Claude & Gpt. Opus for quant queries, sonnet for qual and GPT as a sanity checker. We use custom projects and gpts only and have a set of prompt rules to keep quality somewhat consistent.
IDE: Windsurf + Cascade
Rag: Pinecone (we're looking at pgvector but for now we're not shifting)
Design: Figma
DNS+ WAF: Cloudflare
API's: fly.io
Backend metal: fly.io
Analytics: Mixpanel
Social generator (visual): Icon (the cheap plan)
Social generator (posts): Claude
Article generator: Lovarank
Hosting: Rocket.net
Landing pages: carrd+prefinery (looking at swapping to Base44 or framer)
Task management: Monday.com
Business model & research: Aicofounder.com + Medium
That's' most of it, I'm probably missing one or two but this is the main kit.
Tx for reading,
Z
