Hi Product Hunt 👋 I spent twenty years in uniform. When I stepped out, the hardest part was the silence, and I realised the tools I reached for all wanted to give me answers. None of them asked me anything. So I built the opposite. My Own Compass asks one honest question a day and lets you do the thinking. It runs entirely on your device, because you can only be truly honest when nobody is watching. No account, no cloud, no tracking, by design rather than by promise. It is a one-time purchase, no subscription, in seven languages, on both iOS and Android. Hi, good to see your reply. I gave this a lot of thought, because I realised that continuing to develop this properly is a serious investment. But I’ve decided to go for it. I know My Own Compass may look a little unusual compared with what is considered normal in tech right now. In some ways, I deliberately move in the opposite direction. And some people may even interpret that as being anti-AI. I’m not. I work with technology and AI myself. I simply don’t believe that every part of our thinking should be outsourced to it. Reflection is different. Sometimes the value is not in receiving an answer, but in being given enough space to arrive at your own. That is the principle I want to protect while the app keeps developing. Version 1.10 is already on the way, with adjustments aimed at making the overall experience more complete. And I am investing in that because I want the work to be genuinely useful, not because I am trying to build a cashflow machine around it. I have also made a very deliberate decision about pricing. My Own Compass will remain below €10. Taxes may change. Store commissions may change. Development will continue to cost money. But I am determined to keep it accessible. At the moment, after taxes and commission, I keep roughly €2.97 from a purchase. I’m perfectly fine with that. Because if this was mainly about maximising revenue, I would have designed a very different product. I want the work to sustain itself enough to keep improving it. But above all, I believe people deserve access to tools that can support their own development without everything becoming another expensive recurring service. That matters more to me than squeezing every possible euro out of it.
