Murmur is a lightweight macOS voice keyboard. Hold Fn, speak, release, and text appears where your cursor is. Hold Fn + Control to use your speech and selected text as context for AI-polished output. Raw transcription runs locally for privacy, and AI mode sends text, not audio. Use your own API key instead of paying another fixed dictation subscription.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Murmur because I kept running into the same writing loop: Open ChatGPT → explain what I want → copy → switch back → paste. That felt too heavy for everyday writing. Murmur is a small macOS voice keyboard: → Hold Fn, speak, release: text appears where your cursor is. → Hold Fn + Control: Murmur uses your speech and selected text as context, then returns polished AI output in the app you’re already using. Raw transcription runs locally for privacy. AI mode sends text, not audio, and uses your own API key — so you pay usage-based API costs instead of another fixed dictation subscription. The bigger product belief: the best AI workflows don’t ask users to leave their existing workflow. They meet users where the work is already happening. I’d love feedback from Mac users who write a lot across Slack, Gmail, LinkedIn, forms, docs, and internal tools.
