When its the right time to launch on Product Hunt ?
Because building products has become much more accessible thanks to AI, launches have gotten more crowded too, and the day you pick can matter almost as much as the product itself.
I've already launched my tool, Murmell, once, and I'm gearing up for a second launch on Friday the 28th. This time around I'm putting a lot more thought into timing, not just readiness.
Product Hunt resets its leaderboard at midnight PST, so every single day is its own separate race with its own competition.
Here's where I've landed so far:
– Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are the "safe" picks — highest traffic, but also the most competing launches you're up against
– Monday can be a trap — it's often clogged with everything that waited out the weekend to go live
– Friday and weekends have way less volume, but also way less noise — which is actually why I'm leaning into
Friday this time: less competition, and a chance for my existing audience to actually be heard instead of drowned out
Personally I wouldn't just pick the highest-traffic day by default anymore : I'd think about whether I want to fight for attention in a packed field or have more room to stand out in a quieter one.
When do you personally feel is the right day to launch ?

Murmell
Curious, has anyone actually A/B tested this across two launches of the same product?
Would love to know if the "less crowded" theory holds up with real numbers.
Are there days when people come to browse most often? Is there a statistic like that anywhere? I'm considering a launch, so I'm wondering.
