What’s the biggest waste of time for an early-stage founder?
by•
When you’re starting a company, everything feels important.
Building more features.
Posting every day.
Networking.
Fundraising.
Perfecting the landing page.
Watching competitors.
Going to events.
Trying every new growth channel.
But your time is probably the most limited resource you have.
And looking back, I think a lot of things that feel productive are actually just sophisticated procrastination.
You can spend an entire week being busy without moving the company forward at all.
So I’m curious:
What’s the biggest waste of time for an early-stage founder?
Something you spent way too much time doing before realizing it barely mattered.

Not the founder seat, but the one next to it: rewriting the top of the page. I'd change the wording and not the claim, which is a lot of afternoons spent making the same sentence sound better. Changing what the page says it does is a different job and it takes one sitting, not a season of polish.

@yelyzaveta_kibets It's so true one day i spent 1 whole day redesigning the landing page, i think being a founder is also knowing which part of your task are the most importants and the most impactful and doing the best choices.

For me, it’s probably spending too much time polishing things before enough people are actually using them. It feels productive because you’re improving the product, but sometimes you’re really just delaying the harder work of getting it in front of users, hearing what they care about, and learning from that. I’ve become much more comfortable shipping earlier and fixing things based on real feedback.
