When breaking market news hits, what's the first thing you check before deciding it matters ?

I've been thinking about this a lot while building MoveSurge.

Getting the headline quickly is obviously useful, but I don't think the headline alone answers the real question.

Usually I want to know:

  • did the market actually react?

  • which instrument reacted first?

  • was the move meaningful or just noise?

  • which other companies/assets could be affected next?

  • is this a new catalyst or something the market already knew?

We've been experimenting with showing the headline together with 1m/5m/15m reactions and a read-through to potentially affected stocks.

Curious how other people do this today.

Do you look at the chart first, read more sources, check X, wait for confirmation, or something else?
