Hi everyone — Haz here, the person behind Modus. I built this because I kept watching solo consultants and small studios get stuck between two bad options for managing client work. On one side: web CRMs that charge per seat forever and treat your client data like their growth engine. On the other side: scattered tools — Notes, a spreadsheet, an email folder, and a Google Doc invoice template — that work fine for one client but fall apart at twenty. Modus is a native macOS CRM for people who run small service businesses. It's local-first (your client data stays on your Mac), one-time pricing (no per-seat fees, no annual subscription), and built around the actual workflow of someone juggling 10-100 active relationships. Email integration with Gmail, iCloud, and Microsoft 365. Quote and invoice builder with publishing-grade PDFs. Pipeline tracking that doesn't require you to learn a methodology. A small AI layer (using Apple's on-device Foundation Models by default — no cloud, no API keys needed) that handles morning briefings and natural-language search. It's Mac-first because I think this audience deserves a tool that feels like it belongs on their machine, not a web app in a window. There's also a small iOS companion for capturing thoughts between meetings. This is for solo consultants, freelance designers and developers, indie agencies of 1-5 people, and boutique studios. It is NOT for sales teams over 5 people, marketing automation users, or anyone who needs deep workflow automation — they're served well by HubSpot, Pipedrive, and others. I'd genuinely love to hear what your CRM workflow looks like today, what's broken about it, and whether Modus would fit. Also happy to answer anything about the architecture, the AI choices, or the pricing decisions.
