MIMIC - The daily face game — make the emoji, beat friends

MIMIC is a game that could only exist on a phone. Every day the whole world gets the same 5 emoji. You have 3 seconds to make each face, and your iPhone scores the match 0-100 with on-device face tracking. Build a streak, then share the photo strip (your 5 faces next to the 5 emoji) or a spoiler-free grid. No account, no uploads: nothing leaves your phone. One 60-second round a day, and dangerously "one more try".

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I wanted to build a game that could ONLY exist on a phone — not a runner or a match-3 reskin. MIMIC is the result: every day, everyone on Earth gets the same 5 emoji, and you have 3 seconds to make each face. Your iPhone's face tracking scores you live, 0–100. It's all on-device — no account, no uploads, your photos never leave your phone. The best part is the share card: your 5 attempts next to the 5 emoji. It's involuntarily hilarious. There's also a spoiler-free grid (🟩🟨⬛) if you'd rather brag without the photo. It's free, one 60-second round a day, and weirdly addictive once your streak is on the line. I'd genuinely love to know: which emoji do you think you'd score worst on? Mine is 🥺 — I look deranged, not pleading. 😅

Tried the round this morning and the on-device face tracking is genuinely accurate. Caught myself replaying just to beat my score, which is exactly the trap the description warned about.

Thank you, Okan! Really happy the tracking felt accurate—and it sounds like MIMIC’s “just one more try” trap worked perfectly 😄 Now the real challenge is beating that score tomorrow!

Tried it this morning and honestly the face tracking is way smoother than I expected, especially for something running entirely on the phone. The spoiler-free grid thing is a nice touch since basically every group chat I have would want to compare scores without spoiling the daily emoji.

Thank you, Sati! We spent a lot of time making the on-device tracking feel responsive, so this means a lot. And yes—the spoiler-free grid was built exactly for comparing scores in group chats without ruining the daily faces

honestly love that nothing leaves the phone, that part sold me. one thing though, would be cool if you could see your streak calendar after each round, like little dots filling in for the days you played. would make me way more likely to come back tomorrow and not break it.

Thank you, Eslem! Privacy was non-negotiable for us, so I’m really glad that stood out. And I love the streak-calendar idea—seeing those days fill up would make the streak feel much more tangible. Adding this to our roadmap

3 seconds is brutal, made the silliest face of my life trying to nail the first emoji. Love that the photo strips stay on your phone, way more fun than I expected from something this simple.
