The idea came to me when I noticed how much time organizations (especially schools, museums, and labs) waste trying to keep track of their physical equipment. Most rely on messy, static Excel sheets that are outdated the second they are saved. When a device gets lost or broken, the report is often lost in endless emails. We built MelonTag to turn static spreadsheets into a live, interactive asset management system. By simply printing QR sticker sheets and pegging them to your physical assets: Staff can scan with our mobile app to quickly assign loans, check locations, and log maintenance. The Public / End-Users can scan with their default phone camera (no app required) to report damages or alert you if they find a lost item (with optional GPS sharing).
