My CTO, Phill, and I got laid off from our startups within a month of each other. Like millions of other job seekers, we went through the miserable and demoralizing process of seeking out opportunities, repetitively filling out applications, interviewing, and paying for premium subscriptions for the "promise" of better outcomes.

It doesn't take exceptional vision to identify just how broken the recruiting space is. For job seekers, you are just a blip in the massive volume of applicants exposed to the same "promoted" positions. You win this game with sheer numbers, that is, submitting as many applications as possible (it takes roughly 200-300 applications to land an interview right now, and getting worse). You're surfing different sites, inputting the same information, endlessly. If you are lucky enough to land an interview, you're likely being screened by an HR professional who probably doesn't possess the comprehensive domain knowledge to properly vet you, especially for technical roles. How many millions of highly qualified and capable professionals unfairly ignored, misrepresented, or filtered out by antiquated ATS solutions on a daily basis?

From our perspective, this, of course, is a blameless space. Employers who manage in-house recruitment orgs are forced to piece together expensive SaaS solutions to try and facilitate recruitment. They pay exorbitant amounts of money to maintain these tools and promote their job listings. For most companies, this results in an impossible volume of applicants to fairly assess. Time and money expenditure scale quickly trying to find the right candidate. Employers who outsource recruitment entirely are paying massive premiums off the top for signed candidates. There are solutions that try to address pieces of a much greater issue, but the core problem remains.

Matcha flips this entirely on its head. Our vision extends through the entire hiring process. Job seekers are profiled with extreme depth and match to positions they are truly qualified for, and actually want. We make it as simple as a swipe, but, it doesn't end there. Our goal is to help professionals develop their careers and reach career goals. We can provide insights into what you a competitive professional in your specific domain. Trends, sought-after skills, opportunities, and recommendations, all in one platform, post-swipe and job offer. Roughly 1 in 50 swipes lands an interview.

Our greatest potential to truly shift the recruitment paradigm exists within the employer platform. With the help of highly effective and specialized recruitment agents, we can source fewer, more exceptional candidates to your doorstep. We'll help your team understand what qualifies them, how their experience shapes them for success, and with standards you can set, we'll show you how we measure this. Take-home assignment? Conduct it on-platform, and we'll grade and assess it. Scheduling? We'll automate that - finding the best time your team and candidates, with agents communicating with both sides to find the ideal times. Matcha empowers teams to make smarter, faster decisions with insights and analytics at every step of an interview pipeline - from sourcing to job offers, all on one unified solution.

When my last role ended, I thought I'd have something new by Christmas. Two hundred applications later, I had four phone screens and a whole lot of nothing.

For months, I assumed the problem was me. I rewrote my resume eleven times. There's a version somewhere with extra nouns crammed into it because a Reddit thread swore an ATS likes nouns. That broke me as I was crafting a resume for a system that had already made up its mind. I write software for a living, so the obvious thought finally came to mind: stop fixing the resume and go fix the system.

That's Matcha. It looks at what you can actually do, rather than which words you happened to guess right, and when you swipe, your application goes into the employer's real system. Not a form that emails a form.

One platform, both sides of the table. Job seekers stop sifting through boards and retyping the same work history: the matches come to you, and our agent does the applying. Employers stop stitching together five SaaS tools, sourcing, screening, take-home assignments, scheduling, and offers—all run in one pipeline they can shape themselves.

I have one request for you as you are reading this. Upload your resume you've been rewriting since March on Matcha. Please tell me if the matches are any good, or tell me they're garbage.

Either helps.
