MasterOnce - Code like you learned the ABCs

by
What makes it stand out: Real typing drills — not fill-in-the-blank or multiple choice. You write actual code from scratch. Spaced repetition built in — concepts come back at increasing difficulty so you don't forget. Code Rush — a weird little arcade game where syntax falls from the sky and you type it before it hits the bottom. Sounds silly but it builds muscle memory fast.

My hands froze every time I opened Xcode. So I built something to fix that. Beta Test Link: https://testflight.apple.com/joi... So here's the thing, I tried learning to code probably 10+ times. Udemy courses, YouTube tutorials, Codecademy, you name it. I'd watch videos, feel smart for an hour, then forget everything by the next day. The problem? I was just watching code. Not writing it. Every time I opened Xcode it was like starting from zero. Blank file, blank brain. My hands just froze, like they forgot how to type anything useful. Then it hit me: how did I learn the ABCs as a kid? By writing the letter A a hundred times. Then B. Then C. Over and over until it stuck. Wait... I need this for coding. So I built MasterOnce for myself. Super simple concept: read a coding concept, then actually type it out. Easy mode, medium mode, hard mode. Repeat until it sticks. - (Fully done with Claude Code & the app is waiting for review as of moment, man you can create anything with Claude, feels like having a superpower.) What it does Pick a programming language (HTML, Swift, Python, etc.) Learn concepts with simple explanations (no jargon overload) Type the code yourself through drills Track your streak so you actually come back I also added a little arcade game called Code Rush where syntax falls from the top and you type it before it hits the bottom. Sounds dumb but it's weirdly addictive and actually helps with muscle memory. Why I'm sharing this I'm not trying to build the next Duolingo. I just wanted something that actually works for how my brain learns through repetition and actually doing the thing. It's free right now. I'm still figuring out what features people actually want vs what I think they want. Would love your thoughts If you've struggled with learning to code, or you've found methods that actually worked for you, I'd genuinely love to hear about it. What made things click? What do you wish coding apps did differently? Here is the Beta Test link would love for you to join and give feedback: https://testflight.apple.com/joi... Ps. try the game:
