Macrometa - Build real-time apps and APIs in minutes - not months
by•
Macrometa is a Global Data Network (GDN) and edge development platform offering a Global Data Mesh, Complex Event Processing engine, with In-Region Data Protection.
Hi Product Hunt! Im chetan - the Co-founder and CEO of Macrometa here. Hello from all 110 of us in 14 countries who are building Macrometa. It's great to be here launching on Product Hunt. Please take our platform for a spin and let us know what you think about it.
We have been quietly building Macrometa for 5 years now - its used by more than 80 customers from startups and small teams, to fast growing SAAS and developer platforms, as well as large global enterprise customers in telecom, video streaming, fintech, cybersecurity and more. We have learnt a lot during the journey that has helped us refine our product and make it easier, more powerful and dare I say even fun to build on.
So what is Macrometa?
Macrometa is the first of its kind developer platform for building apps and APIs that run in multiple regions, cloud providers, and a worldwide network of Edge locations (175 to be precise). We call it the "Global Data Network" or GDN. The GDN puts your apps and APIs as close as possible to where the people who use your apps are, to mobile, desktop and devices that access your apps, and to events and things all around the world. We do this so that everything is real-time and instant - everything from the web service request that accesses an API, which may be served by a bunch of microservices (containers and functions), that read or write data from and to databases, or publish/subscribe to events and messages (such as Kafka), perform complex queries and updates. We bring all of that complex backend machinery out of a single region or one cloud and put in lots of places around the world close to where the action is.
Many people compare our value to what a Content Delivery Network (CDN) does for the web - like the web needs a CDN to make it scale and be instantly usable anywhere in the world, today's cloud, mobile and web services need a GDN to make them scale and be instantly usable anywhere in the world by bringing things like databases, microservices and more to the edge.
There is a lot one can do with the GDN. Some of our customers like the telecom giants Verizon and Cox use us to process data from thousands of telecom devices in real time to make business decisions like optimize their network and services. Others like the startup appSecEngineer - use us to make things like serverless functions and data access faster and to replace expensive log services like cloudwatch with faster and more cost effective log analytics. DevCycle has built an entire feature flag management platform on macrometa that dynamically delivers A/B testing and cohort based feature targeting. The gaming company Arrive uses Macrometa to deliver highly time sensitive gaming state to all kinds games across the world. Like I said - developers in more than 80 companies use Macrometa for building new apps and APIs that run closer to users and devices - and all of them leverage macrometa because it helps you build apps and APIs that people love using.
Take Macrometa for a spin and let us know what you think.
If you have questions - my cofounder and CTO Durga, as well as head of product Justin Johnson, developer success advocate Dino, our developer support team headed by James and Luba are all here to help.

Macrometa is a platform that solves a lot of complex problems, especially for enterprise developers. They can use the Macrometa GDN to build and run globally-distributed, event-driven applications without prior experience building and operating distributed systems. Blazing fast, real-time applications, running at 50ms or less for everyone on the planet - without having to learn any new programming paradigms? I don't know of any other platform that does that.

So impressed with Macrometa’s Global Data Network, a platform where enterprises and developers can easily deploy highly-scalable and low-latency edge solutions without the complexities of multi-cloud provider developer building blocks.
Head of Product at Macromet here, I'm very excited to announce our Global Data Network platform to this community. We've built the GDN to give developers the tools to create FAST apps and microservices without having to worry about building and maintaining complex distributed systems. In minutes, you can create REST APIs with a 50ms P90 global response time and do data stream and event processing connected directly to your data at rest.
We have more exciting product releases coming in the next couple of weeks. Check out developer week and join the conversation there as well on 11/07 - https://www.macrometa.com/develo...
I can't wait to see what you all think about Macrometa and what you use the GDN to build!

I've probably looked at every single page in the Macrometa documentation, read all of the blogs posts, case studies, and external articles, and have pinged the Chat Support to where they probably know my name by heart (thanks Edgar/Jesus). I'm currently integrating the Macrometa Global Data Network into one of my projects, and can't wait to test the Edge Compute Stream response times for my global game.
"Make Every Developer a Hero" sure... done, but the Macometa GDN has opened up a whole new avenue of possibilities for me and my team.
Very exciting!
@jondcruz It's great to know that you're going forward with a gaming project and a privilege to read your support interactions have been smooth.
Hopefully, as time passes, we can all get to know more about your project!
In the meantime, be sure that you can count on our Support Team whenever you face something new or just happen to have a question.
Best regards.

Hello All - I am Durga, Co-Founder & CTO of Macrometa. It is great to be here.
Macrometa Global Data Network (GDN) is an edge native platform to build Apps and APIs running closer to your users. Today most Apps and APIs run inside cloud hyper-scale data centers 1000s of miles from the users. This creates a significant amount of latencies in serving your users. There are multiple reasons to build Apps and APIs closer to your users. The most obvious reason is a significant reduction in latencies. The other reasons are the size of the data and privacy regulations like GDPR etc.
Current data platforms are cloud-native and designed with synchronous protocols to run within a data center. So they do not allow one to build rich stateful Apps and APIs running in 100s of locations around the globe closer to your users. Similarly, current data platforms are point services where one has to use one service (DB) to store and query data, another service to search for data, and yet another service to do event processing. This introduces data consistency problems between services, a significant amount of glue code, and wasted developer time.
We designed Macrometa GDN as a co-ordination free and converged data platform to address the above shortcomings. This allows our customers to quickly build rich global Apps and APIs and serve their users with ultra-low latencies.
You can verify the above by taking Macrometa GDN for a spin and let me know what you think. Also, suggestions for improvements in features, tutorials, or docs are highly welcome.

Product's utility is fantastic. But somehow I wasn't able to use the API endpoint part that easily. Some troubleshooting methods around the same in the documentation would be super helpful!
