I study macOS malware every day — and trust me, Macs are not immune. The threats we see, from petty adware to AI-written Malware-as-a-Service kits for macOS, sometimes give me chills. What worries me most is that so many Mac users often are skeptical that this danger exists.

The cybersecurity world has made things too complicated, too mystified and “Matrix-like.” Digital security feels out of reach for everyday users, and that needs to change.

That’s why I’m so excited about Moonlock. It’s not just another “ultimate online protection app”. It’s a way to bring real protection — built on the original macOS malware investigations — to everyone in an approachable, easy-to-grasp way.

Lately in the lab, we’ve been seeing a sharp rise in macOS malware and a clear trend — many attack techniques and tools originally forged in the Windows world are now “migrating” to Mac. These aren’t beginners: they arrive experienced, sharp, aggressive, and well-trained, backed by underground markets, organized groups, and traffic distribution networks. The digital space is starting to resemble the Wild West, full of ambushes and quick draws.

And often, the weakest link isn’t the system — it’s the human. Social engineering, fake updates, subtle tricks — all of these can slip past even the strongest defenses. That’s why we’re building Moonlock not as another antivirus, but as a real caretaker for your “digital pet.” It keeps your system healthy, explains risks in plain language, and helps you make safe decisions every day.

Moonlock is about care, not fear. We believe security should feel natural — accessible, understandable, and quietly protective.
