Lyunotes - The notebook that also mounts as an encrypted vault

by•
Lyunotes is a notebook you can also mount as an encrypted drive. Turn on encryption for any notebook, locked with a key only you hold — designed so we structurally cannot read it, not just promised not to. Sync runs through your own cloud storage, never ours. Switch any notebook between a plain note view and a journal view. Available now on Windows (since September 3) and iOS.

Hey Product Hunt 🐉

Ask a simple question about your note app: where, exactly, are your notes right now? For most mainstream apps the honest answer is "on our servers" — and if the company wanted to read them, technically, today, it could.

Keeping your notes as plain files in a folder you control fixes half of that — genuinely better than a server you can't see into. But look inside that folder and you'll usually find plain text. Copy it to a cloud drive and whoever runs that drive can read it too. Owning your data and keeping it private turned out to be two different problems.

Lyunotes is built to solve both at once. Every notebook lives in your own cloud storage, not ours (on iOS, cloud connect is a Glyph feature) — open the folder and the files are right there. Turn on encryption for any notebook and it's locked with a key only you hold. You don't have to take our word for that: it's what you see when you look. Even if the files were stolen outright, there'd be nothing readable in them. That's not a policy, it's math you can check yourself. It's also, quite literally, a vault: mount a notebook as an encrypted drive (Windows for now) and manage files inside it like folders.
