Hey Product Hunt 👋 I’m the developer of LidPilot. I built it because I wanted one simple Mac utility that handled two workflows I kept running into: sometimes I need the screen to stay available for a lecture or long session, and other times I want a build, download or local task to keep running after I close the lid. The main feature is Follow Lid: Lid open → screen stays available. Lid closed → Mac keeps running. Open it again → LidPilot reconciles the state automatically. Underneath the simple UI, I spent a lot of time on the boring-but-important parts: helper authentication, crash recovery, battery and thermal safeguards, state verification, signed updates and making sure LidPilot returns the Mac to normal behavior when it stops. LidPilot is 100% free and open source. No account, subscription or analytics.
