What inspired you to build this?
LicenseFlow was inspired by the common challenge SaaS teams face when trying to implement licensing, entitlements, and feature gating. Most teams end up building these systems from scratch — which adds significant engineering overhead and slows down product development.
What problem were you trying to solve?
We wanted to solve the problem of complex, fragile licensing logic inside SaaS products. Managing plans, controlling feature access, and handling entitlements often becomes messy and hard to scale. This can create technical debt and limit how quickly teams can launch new pricing models or features.
How did your approach evolve during the launch?
While building LicenseFlow, the focus shifted toward an API-first developer experience. Instead of forcing teams to build and maintain their own entitlement infrastructure, we designed a lightweight service that developers can integrate quickly and control programmatically.
The goal became simple:
Give SaaS teams a reliable, scalable way to manage licensing, feature access, and plans — without adding engineering complexity.
Ultra-Short Version
LicenseFlow started from a common SaaS pain point: every team ends up rebuilding licensing and feature-gating systems from scratch. These systems become complex, fragile, and hard to scale.
We built LicenseFlow as an API-first entitlement platform so SaaS teams can launch plans, control feature access, and manage licensing without engineering overhead. Our approach evolved toward a developer-first experience focused on simplicity, flexibility, and scalability.
