Does typing your thoughts actually ruin them? 🎙️

by•

Hey PH community đź‘‹,

While building LambdaContext, I realized something that completely changed our product direction: People trying to record emotional feelings with rational text is a torture in itself.

Like many of you, I used to type out my diary. But whenever I needed to process complex emotions or chaotic thoughts, I found myself subconsciously formatting them into logical, "essay-like" structures. The raw emotion just vanished.

At first, we tried using standard Speech-to-Text (STT) to solve this. But we realized that flattening voice into text strips away the subconscious layer—the sighs, the hesitations, and the dissonance between what you say and how you say it.

I’m really curious to hear from the makers and thinkers here:

  1. Do you feel that typing forces you to over-rationalize your thoughts?

  2. Are there certain ideas or emotions you can only process by talking out loud?

  3. What’s your current workflow for capturing your messy, unstructured "ramblings"?
