Hello Product Hunters, maker here 🖐🏼 Komento is my old idea that actually comes to live. There is a story behind it when I build this product. I love browsing websites, you too, right? whether you read manga, watch anime, or read random blogs. There is a thing that always bothered me. When you scroll to the comment section, you always see the same thing, yup there is Disqus. Disqus always there. I comment; therefore Disqus. Disqus is the first comment hosting that takes over the Internet. Is it bad? I don't know. Let me share my view on it. I think it's not healthy, that there is comment hosting that has been monopolizing the internet for one decade and more(?). There should be a real competitor. It's hard to find Disqus' competitor that is 100% FREE and respects user's privacy. Okay, but I build Komento not as disqus' competitor. I know Komento is not perfect. I just want to cheer up someone on the internet, maybe there is a maker who's inspired by me and will build the real product, a comment hosting platform as Disqus competitor. I hope there is always a better comment system that protects user privacy and not records all chit-chat as big data and sells it to advertisers. It's a comment host, webmaster should be 100% FREE to embed it into their website. This project is still MVP and I built it about 1-2 weeks for fun. I'm using OrbitDB (powered by IPFS) and there's a lot of obstacles, sometimes data is not sync and not loaded as well. I know, there must be a lot of bugs and security issues, and need a lot of improvements. If you catch a bug, please let me know, submit an issue to komento's repository (https://github.com/oknoorap/komento). It's open source. Let's improve and make it better together. Or, build it your own Disqus alternative that is 100% FREE and respects the user's privacy.
